After a superb night of wining and dining by the team at Pure South there were a few sleepy faces at the 8am tee off for Ocean Dunes. Thanks are in order for Ocean Dunes, Pure South and King Island Dairy for donating prizes for the first two days of golf. There was some stiff competition on day 1 and everyone was fired up to take home a win on day 2.
After receiving beautiful weather on Saturday, it seemed the gods couldn’t let 80 golfers leave without experiencing some real King Island weather. True to form the wind was absolutely howling on Sunday making for some challenging golf conditions. However even gale force winds and drizzle couldn’t take away from the quality of the course or detract from the spectacular shots over Bass Strait.
Playing 15 out of 18 holes really solidified the excitement that is building for the finished product of Ocean Dunes that will be open later in the year.
Thanks to a 65 knot tail wind everyone arrived ahead of schedule in Barnbougle with plenty of time to relax before the evening function and awards.
Congratulations for today’s individual winners, Gordon Mather & Caryn Wallis. Also congratulations to the King Island locals who took out the team prize.
With no flights scheduled for tomorrow everyone can enjoy a much deserved sleep in as preparation for taking on the world famous Barnbougle Dunes and Lost Farm.
So get some rest and we will see you on the greens tomorrow!
